In the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, George Floyd's tragic murder has heart-wrenchingly exposed racism in America. It is a historic moment. Our friends and neighbors, black people, brown people, other people of color, and white people are struggling through the turmoil that is so long overdue.
A time has never been so available to raise our collective consciousness, reach out our hearts, and embrace our humanity. It is important to take time to slow down, to consider your personal needs, our community needs, especially in those areas most affected by recent events, and to be as compassionate with others as with yourself.
It is time to begin healing and to act with loving intention. The multi-generational trauma that is America's violent history calls for the truth to be told, and now. Through this process, the deep wounds of those who have had their lives taken through slavery, genocide, dislocation, systemic racism and violence, and stolen lands must be validated and held in honor and respect.
I hope all are staying well, staying masked, and protecting yourselves and loved ones in these challenging times. Feeling lonely is how so many may be feeling and managing that is definitely presenting a new way of being with others. Sensing directly from your heart and reaching out to others in heartfelt ways can help to alleviate those pesky feelings of loneliness. Try picking up pen and pencil to write to someone, send a card you choose for them to personalize your message. Use journaling or other writing to help connect to that deeper place within you that needs attention. Take time to be with yourself in a nurturing way whether that is in meditation, a lavendar epsom salt bath, or snuggling up…
